As I spent 7 months travelling through Europe on and off, I have stayed in my fair share of hostels. I know the idea of staying in a hostel is absolutely horrifying for many (say, most of my gal pals at home), but some hostels are truly awesome and they can be a great way to make your dollar spread further when travelling.

Hostel Hunting in Europe

Europe, although (arguably) smaller in land mass compared to Australia, consists of so many different countries, cities and cultures that it would take years if you wanted to experience it all properly. As a result, planning a three week trip and trying to get the perfect itinerary can be very daunting. Three weeks isn't a particularly long time but you'd be surprised at how much you can see in just a few short weeks.

London like a "Local" | Photo Blog
england, europe, london, photo blog, travel, UK, weekend trip| Patiently waiting for Hugh Grant in Notting Hill |
There is nothing better than seeing someone you know from home overseas. It's such an exciting yet surreal feeling, catching up with a familiar face in a completely different part of the world. It's just plain awesome. Although I was only going to London for the weekend, I was as excited as I would be if I was doing a weekend trip to an exotic country outside of the UK! I packed my gear for the weekend into my average sized handbag and jumped onto a train to London's Euston Station before taking the tube to Angel. Yes you read right, my handbag. Damn, I had become a good packer at this point...

| The Strokes @ Hyde Park London |
The Strokes are number one on my concert bucket list. I never thought that I would get to see them live. I had accepted that and moved on. I saw them perform in London's Hyde Park three nights ago. They were flawless. It was one of the best nights of my life. I don't know if I will ever recover. I'm speechless. I have no other words.
My upcoming exam has again motivated me to write another blog post. I've reached the point where I want to do anything but study. Anything. Literally anything. I apologise in advance for the rushed and less than spectacular post. I'm going to try my best to publish posts about everywhere that I have visited up until this point before I leave for my six-week long backpacking trip in July with my friends from home. Once I'm off, I probably won't be able to update my blog at all and when I return, I'll have a whole new list of destinations to write about...
Circa Waves @ The Library Institute Birmingham
Circa Waves are a band that I discovered at the beginning of last year and I fell for them hard and fast. Although they only had five songs released at the time, they quickly became one of my favourite bands and I would listen to said five songs on repeat for weeks on end while driving around in my car. I grew an insatiable need to see them perform live and I was over the moon when Songkick notified me that they were going to be touring the UK during my time there and bought tickets to their gig before I had even left Melbourne!
The Wombats at The O2 Academy Birmingham
I had a ball the other night when I saw The Wombats live in Birmingham. I bought the tickets to see them back when I was still in Australia and even received the tickets in the mail when I was still back home so I've been looking forward to this gig for ages!
Chelsea v Aston Villa at Villa Park
Soccer, or football as they call it here, is hands down one of my favourite sports to watch along with tennis. Going to an EPL match has been on my full bucket list since I first made it back in 2008 and being here in England for exchange has finally given me a chance to check it off!

My First Trip to London: Day 2
england, europe, london, travel, travel stories, UK, weekend trip
After spending two weeks in my new home at Warwick, I decided that it was finally time to venture out of Coventry. I, along with a bunch of other exchange students, took the 7.15am Megabus from Coventry to London on the 17th of January. Waking up for that was definitely not an easy feat after getting home from a night out at 4am the night before... The Megabus was fantastic! It only cost £9 for a round trip and took 2 hours.
